Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A conservative political action group is criticizing U.S. Congressman Dan Benishek for his vote this week to end the Federal shutdown.

The group, Americans for Limited Government, says in voting for the continuing resolution Benishek allowed funding for Obamacare to take effect.

ALG President Nathan Mehrens says when it counted Benishek was nowhere to be found in the fight to defund Obamacare.

He added  that by voting to fund it, Benishek now owns Obamacare just as much as if it had been a vote to adopt it in the first place.

In a statement Benishek says he supported the bipartisan compromise because families in his district deserve a government that is open and running and that while the bill is not perfect, it is in the best interest of citizens in Northern Michigan.
