Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Possible solutions to a controversy over heavy truck traffic in the City of Marquette and Marquette Township were the focus of a special meeting last night.

The multi-jurisdictional public meeting was held at the Marquette Township Community Center in front of a packed house of concerned residents and business owners.

The meeting was hosted by Township Supervisor Dennis Liimatta and Township staff to gather stakeholders together to discuss, present and gather options for consideration to solve the issue of safely routing heavy truck traffic through the area.

While several possible ideas were discussed last night, there were no final plans set.

The City of Marquette has delayed a final decision on their proposed heavy truck road ordinance for 90 days as interested groups have agreed to work together to seek out a solution.
