Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – 109th District State Representative John Kivela testified yesterday in Lansing in support for a measure calling on the Army to retain the ROTC program at Northern Michigan University.

The Marquette Democrat made his comments front of the House Military and Veterans Affairs Committee in favor of House Resolution 0256, urging the U.S. Army to continue the program at NMU.

The program is scheduled to be eliminated in May of 2015.

The resolution, which passed the committee 13-0, now goes to the full House.

If it passes, copies will be sent to the U.S. Secretary of the Army and the Michigan congressional delegation.
