Marquette Township Approves KBIC Store Site Plan

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The site plan for a proposed convenience store and gas station on U.S. 41 in Marquette Township operated by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community has been approved.

The plan and special use review for the facilty tobe located for the south side of US-41 was approved last night by the Marquette Township Planning Commission.

Commissioners reiterated that it is not up to them to decide whether the store is good the for the township, but only determine if it meets township zoning requirements.

The plan is to build the store on land located between Gander Mountain and 41 Lumber.

The Commission added that further permits to build the convenience store must now come from Marquette County and other governmental agencies.
