Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department has released the names in a fatal car-pedestrian accident that happened Wednesday night.

The accident was reported just before 9:00 p.m. central time at the intersection of US-2 and Mikado Road in Wakefield Township.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, 18-year-old Lindsey Sullivan of Bessemer reported hitting a pedestrian with her vehicle.

The victim was identified as a 49-year-old Susanne Sutton of Iron River.

Authorities say alcohol was not a factor for Sullivan, the driver, but it may have been for Sutton, who reportedly stepped into traffic as Sullivan drove by.

The accident remains under investigation.
