Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An Illinois man has been sentenced in Federal Court in Marquette to prison on a heroin charge.

31-year-old Raymond Bowser of Chicago was sentenced to five years behind bars and one year of supervised release.

Bowser pleaded guilty in December to distribution of heroin within 1,000 feet of a playground.

The charge came after an investigation by the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team in February of 2015 in Bessemer.

Bowser is being transported to Douglas County, Wisconsin, to face heroin-related charges there, and to the U.S. District Court in Minnesota to answer for violations of the terms of a supervised release related to a 2008 federal drug conviction.
