Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Some improvements will be coming to a landmark park in the City of Marquette.

The Marquette City Commission unanimously approved a plan last night at their regular meeting to increase the accessibility to the Father Marquette Park on Front Street.

The $200,000 project will include new walkways, viewing platforms and benches for increased seating.

Approximately $140,000 of the project funding will come from the Michigan DNR and the remainder will be covered by the Marquette Beautification and Restoration Committee.

Work is expected to begin later this spring or early summer.
