Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Board of Light & Power says plans are progressing on schedule for the construction of the new Marquette Energy Center.

At a special meeting of the BLP last night, officials said bids for the engineering and construction of the facility are going out next month and the board entered into an agreement with Northern Natural Gas to supply the Energy Center.

SEMCO energy will construct a 3,000 foot pipeline that will feed the gas to the facility.

BLP officials say contractors will be on site this summer and the natural gas engines that will generate electricity are set to arrive in October.
