Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – More than 260-thousand families and businesses remain without power after a storm system rolled through this weekend knocking out service to more than 482-thousand families and businesses.

Consumers Energy reports outages include 185-thousand customers, and DTE Energy more than 78-thousand as of Monday night.

Consumers Energy says they have 21-hundred contract crews working around the clock to restore service, but in many cases those repairs require rebuilding some systems which takes time.

DeDoes says they have called in one-thousand utility crews from other states to help out, but some customers in hardest hit areas won’t have service restored until at least Saturday.

DTE Energy says crews are working 16-hour shifts around the clock to restore power but it’s not clear when all customers will be restored since crews are still assessing the damage.
