Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The United Steelworkers Local Unions 4974 and 4950 have stepped up to help collect nearly $2000 for the Salvation army this Christmas.

The unions collected $1,951 for the Ishpeming Salvation Army by participating in the Salvation Army’s red kettle drive.

Kettles were placed at the Tilden Mine, Empire Mine and the Empire pit. Employees rotated shifts ringing the bell and collecting donations for the Salvation Army from employees, visitors and contractors.

Ishpeming Salvation Army officials say the kettle campaign collections will help provide food for their food bank and provide assistance for those in need.
