Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Negaunee Post responded to a nine-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in Negaunee Township.

The accident happened just before 1:00 p.m. on US-41 near Brebner Road when a westbound 2001 Honda, driven by 54-year-old Theresa Selman of Ishpeming went out of control and crossed the median into the oncoming lane.

Selman’s vehicle struck a 2013 Toyota Highlander driven by 74-year-old Eleanor Weaver of Republic, and a 2002 Buick Century, driven by 22-year-old Kelly Illikainen of Negaunee.

Several other vehicles went out of control and crashed while attempting to avoid the original crash, and Troopers say an MGH ambulance that had stopped to render assistance was hit by a 2004 Chevy Impala driven by 19-year-old Casey Juntila of Champion while she was trying to avoid the other vehicles on the roadway.

Only two people sustained minor injuries in the accident and Selman was found to be at fault and was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
