Brutal Cold And Blizzard Conditions Across The U.P.

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – In Alger County, a Blizzard Warning remains in effect until Noon today. Northwest winds will continue to gust to around 40 mph near Lake Superior and to around 30 mph inland through this morning, resulting in blizzard conditions with severe blowing and drifting of snow. The heaviest lake effect snow will hit between Munising and Grand Marais early this morning, but will shift to the east.  Wind chills will fall to 20 to 30 below zero today and to 25 to 35 below zero tonight through tomorrow.

A Lake Effect Snow Advisory remains in effect until Noon today for Schoolcraft and Luce counties in the east and Keweenaw, Northern Houghton, Ontonagon and Gogebic Counties in the west

Wind Chill Warnings remain in effect most of the U.P. until this afternoon. Blustery northwest winds gusting to 20 to 30 mph and very cold air will continue and wind chills will fall to 30 to 40 below zero today and to as low as 35 to 45 below zero tonight through tomorrow morning. Wind chills will fall to 25 to 35 below Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
