Marquette County Woman Arrested After Weekend Vehicle Fire

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –  State Police at the Negaunee Post report the arrest of a Marquette County woman following a weekend vehicle fire in Powell Township.

Troopers were called to the scene of the vehicle fire around 4:00 a.m. yesterday on County Road 550 near County Road KCH.

The driver, a 45-year-old Big Bay resident, was able to get herself and her two dogs out of the car safely before the fire.

Troopers say the woman was northbound on County Road 550 when it left the roadway, hit a snowbank and got stuck.

She attempted to free the vehicle and that is when it caught on fire.  Troopers arriving on the scene found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

The woman was arrested for Operating While Under The Influence and was lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

No name has been released at this time.
