MI Unemployment Fourth Highest In US

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Michigan’s December jobless rate of 8.4 percent was the fourth highest jobless rate in the nation.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Rhode Island had the highest seasonally adjusted jobless rate in December at 9.1 percent.

Nevada was second at 8.8 percent and Illinois was third at 8.6 percent.

Illinois had the highest jobless rate of the Great Lakes States, followed by Michigan, then Ohio at 7.2 percent.

North Dakota had the lowest overall rate at 2.6 percent.
