Unemployment Rates For December Released

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State officials say seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates in December rose slightly in 11 of the 17 major labor market regions in Michigan.

According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, total employment and labor force levels declined seasonally in nearly all areas over the month.

The Ann Arbor area had the state’s lowest jobless rate last month at five-point-two percent while Northeast Lower Michigan had the highest at 12-point-six percent.

The U.P. rate for the period was 9.5 percent, while Marquette County had a rate of 7.5 percent.

Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in December was 8.4 percent.
