Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Ishpeming City Police are continuing the investigation into a two-vehicle accident yesterday that injured three people.

The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. on South Pine Street near Excelsior Street when a northbound 2001 Chrysler Intrepid, driven by 17-year-old Cassidy Kudis of National Mine, crossed the center line on a curve and struck an oncoming 2004 Ford pickup truck head-on.

Kudis and a 6-year-old female passenger were seriously injured in the accident.

At last report, the 6-year-old was in the ICU and Kudis was listed in serious condition at Marquette General.

The driver of the pickup, 43-year-old Lisa Holmgren of Ishpeming, was treated and released at Bell Hospital.

Police say the 6-year-old was not a relative of Kudis and the child was not properly restrained in the vehicle at the time of the crash.  Excessive speed was a factor.
