Guilty Verdicts For Two Ishpeming Men

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Guilty verdicts were handed down yesterday in the in trial of two Marquette County men accused of kidnapping two women last summer, and holding them prisoner.

43-year-old Jason Sadowski and 66-year-old Charles Cope, both of Ishpeming, were found guilty yesterday of unlawfully imprisoning the women in the basement of Sadowski’s martial arts studio in Ishpeming last July.

Sadowski was found guilty of seven of eight charges in the case: solicitation of murder, two counts of torture, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

He was acquitted of a charge of first-degree C-S-C. Cope was found guilty of of two counts each of torture and unlawful imprisonment.

Both men have habitual offender – fourth offense status attached and could face life in prison.

No sentencing date has been set.
