Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Iron Mountain Post are investigating an accident involving a car and a train that took place yesterday afternoon in Dickinson County.

Troopers say the accident happened at 2:15 p.m. central time when the driver of a northbound sedan attempted to stop for a train at a railroad crossing in Quinnesec.

The driver and passengers told Troopers they saw the train at the last moment and were unable to prevent the vehicle from sliding into the train.

The driver and the three others in the car were not injured. Reports say the train was moving at about 10 miles per hour at the time of the incident.

The driver was cited for violating the basic speed law and the driver’s name is not being released due to the fact that they are a minor.

No other information has been released at this time.
