Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) -The Michigan Department of Natural resources says Michigan rivers and inland lakes in 2013 had no evidence of Asian Carp.

The DNR says the U.S. Fisheries and Wildlife Service sampled water at locations around the state testing for environmental DNA, or eDNA related to the bighead carp or silver carp varieties of invasive Asian Carp.

M-Live reports the DNR says that eDNA tests of Michigan rivers will continue in 2014.

Asian carp are voracious eaters and pose a great threat to the Great Lakes ecosystem, according to scientists.
