Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police from the Negaunee Post have released an update of their investigation of a shooting incident in Palmer.

The incident happened around 12:35 p.m. Saturday when a firearm was discharged during an argument causing critical injury to one of the two men.

The victim, 18-year-old Zachary Lehto, was taken to Marquette General Hospital for emergency surgery, and at last report was in stable condition.

The suspect, 52-year-old Richard Lehto, was arrested and charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, firearm usage under the influence causing serious impairment and domestic violence third offense.

Lehto was arraigned in 96th District Court and is being held at the Marquette County Jail.  Troopers say the suspect and victim are father and son.
