DEQ Public Hearing On Eagle Mine Discharge Permit

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality holding a public hearing on the reapplication for a groundwater discharge permit by the Eagle Mine in Marquette County.

The hearing will be held tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at the Westwood High School in Ishpeming.

Officials with the D-E-Q will start the session by answering questions regarding the draft permit, followed by the public hearing.

The permit must be reapplied for every five years and this public hearing a part of the overall reapplication process.

All interested parties are welcome to attend the public hearing.

Information regarding the proposed permit can be accessed on the D-E-Q website at michigan.gov/deq.
