Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers of Michigan has announced he’s not running for re-election and is getting out of elective politics.

Rogers, whose profile has risen significantly as chairman of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee, made the announcement this morning.

The seven-term congressman says his next job will be as a radio talk show host.

Reports say he will be hosting a national show syndicated by Cumulus Media.

The show will begin next January.

The announcement has set off a major buzz in Michigan politics, and three possible candidates who could surface in the next election could be Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero, a Democrat, Michigan House Democrat Sam Singh, and Michigan House Republican Bill Rogers, the congressman’s brother.
