Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The cities of Marquette, Negaunee and Ishpeming and Marquette County are receiving a portion of a combined $60.9 million to help restore road maintenance budgets that were depleted by Michigan’s tough winter.

The funding is part of $100 million for special winter road maintenance in a supplemental appropriations bill signed into law last month by Governor Rick Snyder.

The Michigan Department of Transportation allocated portions of the one-time appropriation to Marquette County municipalities as follows:  The county will receive $362,000 and the City of Marquette will receive $97,000.

Ishpeming will receive $38,100 and Negaunee will get $27,200.  The money must be used for winter maintenance costs, and not for things such as administration, overhead or other indirect costs.
