Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Ishpeming City Police say a standoff in the city ended peacefully overnight.

Police had been called to a residence on the 1800 block of Hewitt Street just after 11:00 a.m. yesterday after a woman left the residence and contacted authorities about a domestic violence assault of which she had been a victim.

The woman was able to get out of the house with only minor injuries and told police that the man who was inside the home was making violent threats to shoot people.

The residence was surrounded by police who then waited for additional backup from the Michigan State Police Emergency Services Team from downstate Dundee.

Reports say police contacted the suspect after 2 a.m. and he surrendered without incident after seeing the armored vehicle that the Michigan State Police had on scene.

The suspect was lodged in the Marquette County jail and will be arraigned later today.
