Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The National Weather Service in Negaunee Township has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Keweenaw Peninsula for increasing snow showers that is in effect from 6:00 p.m. today to 11:00 a.m.  Friday.

The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

Precipitation will begin this afternoon as a mix of rain and snow before transitioning to mainly snow late this afternoon.

Snow may fall heavy at times tonight…and slowly diminish in intensity Friday morning.  Storm total snowfall of 3 to 8 inches is expected.

Roads will become snow and slush covered, and gusty east to southeast winds of 15 to 25 mph tonight may result in blowing and drifting snow.
