Unemployment Drops In U.P. And Across State
Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State labor officials say that seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates in March declined in all of the state’s 17 major labor market regions.
Total employment and labor force levels were up in nearly all regions over the month.
Officials say from February to March, unemployment rate reductions were mostly minor.
In March, four of Michigan’s major regions displayed jobless rates below the national rate of 6.8 percent.
In Upper Michigan, the March 2014 unemployment rate was 10.4 percent, down half a point from last year’s level.
The state rate for the period was 8 percent.
Marquette County had a rate of 8.2 percent.
