Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Department of Transportation is starting a  major road project tomorrow in Houghton County.

M-DOT is reconstructing 3 miles of M-26 in Franklin Township from the Portage Lake Lift Bridge to Sixth Street in Dollar Bay.

Work includes widening the roadway from two lanes to three with a center left-turn lane from the bridge to Military Road, along with realignment for shallower curves.

The remainder of the roadway, from Military Road to Sixth Street, will be paved.

The project is expected to be completed on Friday, October 24th
