Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –  Governor Rick Snyder has amended a recent emergency declaration for Marquette County to include five additional U.P. counties after this winter’s extreme cold and deep frost levels continue to cause widespread and severe damage to water and sewer mains.

The amended emergency declaration adds Chippewa, Delta, Gogebic, Luce and Mackinac Counties.

The counties requested a governor’s declaration after determining local resources were insufficient to address their current situations.

Snyder declared a state of emergency for Marquette County on April 17th ensuring all possible state resources would be provided to assist the local response to the damage caused this winter.
