Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – 109th District State Representative John Kivela says he is supporting legislation offered up in Lansing late last week that moves forward with efforts to financially assist the City of Detroit in their current state of bankruptcy.
Kivela says that although on first glance, supporting a financial bailout of Detroit may not be popular in his home district in the middle of the Upper Peninsula, he feels that Detroit getting back on track will increase confidence in business investment, tourism and commerce in all of the state of Michigan.
Kivela said he is continuing to work hard for his home district, but at times lawmakers also have to serve the betterment of the state as a whole and he feels this is one of those instances.
