110th District State Representative Scott Dianda (D-Calumet)

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – 110th District State Representative Scott Dianda says he voted no on bankruptcy legislation for the City of Detroit.

The Calumet Democrat issued a statement today saying he understands the Legislature had to help Detroit emerge from bankruptcy quickly and responsibly, but he has a responsibility to the citizens of the 110th House District to make decisions in their best interests.

Dianda added, “my district, has seen tough times and is still facing many challenges, and I could not in good conscience vote to send nearly $200 million to Detroit when so many families in my own district are struggling just to get by.”

Dianda says he did vote in support of the separate proposal to give Detroit increased oversight.

Dianda says it is important Detroit leaves bankruptcy swiftly and securely with leadership that will not allow past mistakes to be repeated.
