Woman Killed In Copper Country House Fire

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Authorities are reporting a weekend house fire in the Copper Country that claimed the life of one person.

State Police at the Calumet Post say the fire was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. yesterday at a home on Osceola Road in Calumet Township.

The structure was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene.

Calumet Township and Laurium Village Fire Departments got the fire out after about four hours.

After the fire was extinguished, investigators recovered the body of a 63–year–old woman in the residence.

The investigation is underway by the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal and Troopers from the Calumet Post.

The name of the victim is not being released by police at this time.
