Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Authorities are continuing the investigation into the cause of an early morning house fire in Manistique.

Manistique Public Safety responded to the fire at 115 North Fourth Street around 2:15 a.m. today.

Firefighters arriving on the scene found the house fully engulfed with flames shooting through the roof of the structure.

The fire was under control in under an hour, but firefighters were slowed down by a metal roof that collapsed trapping a heavy fire load underneath. Fire crews were on scene until 6:15 a.m., putting out hotspots.

The home was heavily damaged and is a total loss.

The house is owned by Karen McDonald of Manistique, but was being rented by a couple who were not home at the time.

No injuries were reported
