Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The DNR is hosting an open house tomorrow in Baraga to provide information and gather public comment on proposed forest management plans for Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties.

The session will focus on plans for 2016 in the Baraga management unit.

Each year, the DNR evaluates one-tenth of the state forest.

Timber management, wildlife and fisheries habitat, wildfire potential and social concerns are some of the topics considered during this review.

The proposed management plans are designed to ensure the sustainability of all forest resources.  The open house is set for 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. tomorrow at the DNR Baraga Operations Service Center on U.S. 41 North in Baraga.
