Marquette Board of Light and Power Warns of New Phone Scam

Filed under: U.P. News Updates |

timthumb_phpThe Marquette Board of Light and Power is warning area residents of a phone scam that has been making the rounds of several of their commercial customers.  The BLP says they have been contacted by customers who say they received a telephone call and were told their electric power service would be disconnected within 45 minutes to one hour, if they didn’t provide immediate payment by financial or credit card information.  The Board of Light and Power says the calls are not coming from them and staff  have notified Marquette Police of the phone scam.   Please, if you receive a telephone call from someone threatening disconnection  of your electric service from the MBLP, do not give any financial or  credit card information over the phone, write down the phone number, hang up and call the MBLP at 228-0311.
