State Police Investigate Calumet Stabbing

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Calumet post responded to a stabbing overnight.

The incident was reported around 2:00 a.m. today outside of a residence on Hecla Street.

Troopers say a 25-year-old Laurium man and a 26-year-old Calumet man began arguing inside the residence and then went outside and continued arguing.

The disagreement escalated into a physical fight and the Calumet man went back into the residence and came back out with kitchen knives and that is when witnesses heard the Laurium man yelling out and police were called.

The Calumet man was arrested and charged with felonious assault and lodged in the Houghton County Jail.

Reports say the victim was treated and released at Keweenaw Aspirus Hospital and that alcohol was a factor in the incident.

No names are being released at this time, pending arraignment.
