Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Today is primary election day in Michigan.
Voters statewide will decide on Proposal 1, which makes permanent a phase out of the state’s personal property tax on business.
Also, in the 1st Congressional District, Republican incumbent Dan Benishek is facing a challenge from Tea Party Republican Alan Arcand of Iron River.
Various school, county and municipal millage funding proposals are being decided today.
Voters are also determining party candidates for the November general election. No split ticket voting is allowed in the primary.
Polls are open in all regular polling places from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time for all elections.
