Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – 110th District State Representative Scott Dianda and State Senator Tom Casperson have introduced companion bills in the House and Senate to name a bridge in Ontonagon County the “Ontonagon County Veterans Memorial Bridge.”

The bridge is on M-64 over the Ontonagon River.

The idea for the bill came from the Ontonagon County Veterans’ Association, which is composed of members from all the VFW and American Legion Posts in Ontonagon County.

The group provides coordinators and drivers for the DAV Van taking veterans to Iron Mountain for medical service and participate in parades and community celebrations.

Casperson said our roads are a symbol of our freedoms which we have because of the sacrifice of those who have served our nation.

Dianda said it was a pleasure working with Senator Casperson on this bill and is hoping for quick passage of this legislation and making the bridge an official tribute to our fallen heroes.
