Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An online crowdfunding project to create a public space around an existing skate park in City of Marquette has successfully reached its goal.
The effort to raise funds through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces Community Places crowdfunding program set a goal of $10,000 for improvements to the park in north Marquette.
As of this morning, organizers say they have exceeded the goal thanks to 67 donors and having done so before the posted deadline, the MEDC will add another $10,000 to the project.
Funds raised for the project will be used to make the space more inviting to users and spectators by adding landscaping, benches, skate-able art and community recognition signage.
