Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –  Members of the U.P. legislative delegation, Marquette County veterans and veterans’ advocates met at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette yesterday in support of a special county-wide millage coming up on the ballot in November.

State Senator Tom Casperson and Representatives John Kivela and Scott Dianda joined The Marquette County Veterans Alliance to voice their support for creation of the position of county veterans counselor.

The millage would authorize a tenth of a mill on all taxable property within Marquette County.

If passed, it would raise funds for the counselor and to support transportation to medical appointments for veterans in Marquette County. Marquette County one of twelve counties in the state without a veterans counselor.
