Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The investigation is continuing today into a weekend fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident on US-41 in Marquette Township.

The accident happened around 8:00 p.m. Saturday when a group of pedestrians were crossing the highway from the Cedar Motor Inn to the Marquette Buffalo Wild Wings.

55-year-old Paul Cox of Plains, Kansas was struck by an eastbound minivan driven by 43-year-old Vickie Kinnunen of Gwinn.

Cox was thrown into the grass median by the impact and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Kinnunen and three passengers in the minivan were not injured.

A preliminary investigation shows alcohol and excessive speed were not factors in relation to the driver.

No other injuries for the group were reported.
