Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette City Police are welcoming the newest addition to their K-9 team.

“Nitro” is a one year old black lab that has been extensively trained in explosives detection.

The dog was purchased in May from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and will be starting his duties with the police department immediately.

“Nitro” will be officially sworn in at tomorrow evening’s Marquette City Commission meeting.

The meeting is set for 7:00 p.m. at Commission Chambers at Marquette City Hall and the public is encouraged to attend.
