Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette City Commission has voted to move ahead with a lease agreement with the Upper Peninsula Community Rowing Club for a boathouse.

The proposed facility would be built along the Lake Superior shoreline near the Hampton Inn.

The commission voted 5-2 to approve the lease with Commissioners Cambensy and Reynolds voting against it.

The lease is for a period of 25 years and allows the club to begin the raising funds  for construction of the boathouse.

Under the lease the City will own the structure while the club is financially responsible for the building of the boat house and it’s maintenance.
