GLR News Update

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of three Huron Mountain Club employees involved in a fatal boating accident Wednesday on a Marquette County lake.

The employees were working on Mountain Lake in a 16 foot flat bottom boat winterizing campsites around the lake when a wave came over the side of the boat, causing it to capsize.

The deceased is 48-year-old Paul Albert-Charles Maki of Big Bay. The survivors are 29-year-old Charles Edward Demay and 29-year-old Suzette Michelle Stephenson, both from Big Bay.

Deputies say personal flotation devices were in the boat but not being worn at the time of the incident.

Foul play is not suspected and further investigation is necessary to determine specific information about the boat.
