Ishpeming Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal Accident Case

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An Ishpeming man has admitted to reckless driving which led to the deaths of two people last summer.

19-year old Raymond Anderson plead guilty yesterday in Marquette County District Court to two counts of moving violation causing death.

The misdemeanor is punishable by up to 1 year in jail and/or a $2,000 fine.

Police say Anderson was driving a rental truck when he pulled into the path of a motorcycle on US-41 at Lakeshore Drive in Ishpeming on June 5th.

64-year-old Gary Kappler of Ahmeek and 52-year-old Diane Palosaari of Mohawk were pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither was wearing a helmet.

Anderson is currently free on bond.

No sentencing date has been scheduled.
