Pembine, WI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Wisconsin authorities have released the name of a man shot by Marinette County Sheriff’s deputies in Pembine.

A statewide bulletin was released Wednesday about Michael Rasmussen of Fitchburg, WI being armed with a loaded shotgun and making threats.

He was believed to be heading north, possibly into Marinette County.

Deputies located Rasmussen’s vehicle and followed him for several miles while trying to negotiate with him by phone.

Rasmussen then stopped in Pembine, got out of his vehicle and approached deputies with a firearm.

Rasmussen did not stop when deputies ordered him to drop the gun, and as a result, deputies shot and killed him.
