Michigan Voters Deciding Several Races And Issues

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Voters are heading to the polls across the state today to cast ballots in several races including governor.

    Incumbent Republican Rick Snyder is running for a second term against Democratic challenger and former U.S. Congressman Mark Schauer.

    Voters will decide a variety of other offices, including the U.S. Senate, as Senior Senator Carl Levin has decided not to run for re-election.

    Former Secretary of State, Republican Terri Lynn Land is running against U.S. Congressman Gary Peters.

    Contests for the Michigan Senate and House, along with a slew of education posts and other positions such as Attorney General and Secretary of State are also before voters.

    Also up are three seats on the Michigan Supreme Court with eight candidates in the running as well as a series of local races and proposals.

    Polls are open until 8:00 p.m. local time.
