Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –

A WINTER STORM CONTINUES OVER ALL OF UPPER MICHIGAN TODAY AND WILL BECOME MORE CONFINED TO NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR TONIGHT. WIDESPREAD HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED…ESPECIALLY THIS MORNING.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10:00 a.m. eastern Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says another round of heavy snow is expected through today and tonight. Snow may fall heavy at times through tomorrow morning.

There will also be some blowing snow, especially in open areas near Lake Superior.

Look for additional snowfall amounts of 6 to 10 inches today and 3 to 6 inches tonight.  The greatest amounts will be in the higher terrain from the Huron Mountains to Ishpeming, Negaunee and Gwinn.

Travel will be difficult due to snow covered roads and heavy, blowing snow.   Some power outages may occur due to the heavy snow and gusty winds.

Large waves on Lake Superior will lead to minor lakeshore flooding and beach erosion along the coast today through tonight.
