Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Motorists in the Copper Country can expect delays on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge connecting Houghton and Hancock starting this weekend.
The delays are part of an $8.3 million maintenance project by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
M-DOT will perform upgrades and preventive maintenance work on the bridge starting this month through mid-April of 2016.
Intermittent short-term closures are planned to occur between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. this Sunday through Tuesday.
M-DOT will share plans for the project at a public meeting on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fisher Hall at Michigan Technological University in Houghton.
