Houghton, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Officials with Michigan Technological University in Houghton say the school has adjusted tuition rates for next year in compliance with state guidelines.

The university took the action following the signing of next fiscal year’s state budget by Governor Rick Snyder this week.

The adjusted increase averages 4.2 percent for in-state undergraduates in the most common academic programs and maintains a balanced budget for Michigan Tech.

The approved university budget for next year increases financial aid to undergraduate students by $3.2 million, a 10 percent increase over this year.

The increase recognizes a projected enrollment increase and Tech’s emphasis on student access and affordability.
