Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A single-engine airplane was involved in a crash yesterday at the Sawyer International Airport.
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. when the Cessna 172 veered of the runway during takeoff and flipped over.
The pilot was the only person on the aircraft and was not injured. Reports say high winds were believed to have been a factor.
The accident closed the runway for about three hours and the name of the pilot has not been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
